Directions: Answer the following questions on your own paper, in at least one paragraph.

1. Write your own definition of plagiarism. (“What is plagiarism?”) (no paragraph needed)

2. Do you believe plagiarism is as important as teachers/instructors/administrators do? Explain why or why not. Provide an example. (“Why are my instructors so concerned about plagiarism?”)

3. Give three examples of “common knowledge.” (“What about ‘common knowledge’?”) (no paragraph needed)

4.  What is the difference between paraphrasing and quoting? (“What about paraphrasing?”) (no paragraph needed)

5. What do you think a citation is? How do you think citations will be used in your research papers? (“Step 1: Accentuate the positive…”)

6. What are your current note-taking practices? Describe them in as much detail as possible. (“Step 2: How can I keep track…”)

7. From the suggestions given, which will be the most helpful for you in this class? Explain why. (“Step 2: How can I keep track…”)

8. In the section, “Works Consulted/cited” there are four citations beginning with “Alberti, Leone Battista” For each citation, you should write out the citation and label the following: author, title, publisher, translator, city of publication, publisher, date of publication. Please note, not every citation will have the all this information. (no paragraph needed)
